Brian,
Typically the manufacturer or lab will provide the luminous aperture specs.
0 0 0 represent x y z dimensions
To create a circular 6" aperture  use   -.5 0 0 (note the minus sign)
A 6" square is    .5 .5 0

The "1" before the aperture dimensions indicates units in feet, "2" for
meters.

ies2rad includes the -dx flag (x=f feet, m meters, i inches etc) to
convert ies aperture specifications into the units of your model.
