Hi Jan and Francesco,
Thanks a bunch! Redhat has collaborated and Pmap 4.3 is running fine
now.

Hi Erico,
you should use RADIANCE 3.7, Patchlevel 2, which we have put also onto
the same page. I just checked it and I could compile it without any
problems on my linux machine.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for the pointer. I've downloaded the pmap 4.3 version and tried
to compile/install (after performing a fresh installation of radiance
3.7), but the pmap installation is unsuccessful, with the following
error messages being generated by 'makeall install' during the
compilation:

Do you have any idea of what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Erico,
you probably should use the current version of photon-mapping(4.3),
which is for the RADIANCE 3.7. Roland made this new version some weeks
ago.
I'm not sure, if this helps in your special case, but I never had such
problems with using photon-ports and I used it several times without any
problems (I always used the 3.28 version for RADIANCE 3.5).
We are actually reorganizing our web-pages and unfortunately the English
(web)version is not available and the German version shows a bug in
direct linking. That's the reason, why I haven't posted it to the
community yet.
Anyhow, it is already on a Web-page for downloading.
You can get it on:
http://www.ise.fraunhofer.de/german/fields/field6/mb4/index.html then
follow link on "Lichtsimulation", then "RADIANCE", then "p-map"
Good luck!

Im running a simulation on hollow mirror lightpipes and Ive installed
the photon map compiled by Carsten Bauer (at
<http://www.cb-d.de/pmap/pmap.html> http://www.cb-d.de/pmap/pmap.html)
for Radiance 3.6. I also downloaded the examples from
<mailto:ganjatron at gmx.net> Roland Schregles webpage (
<http://www.ise.fhg.de/alt-aber-aktiv/radiance/photon-map/download.html>
http://www.ise.fhg.de/alt-aber-aktiv/radiance/photon-map/download.html)
to run a test drive. The Photon Map runs all scripts without any
problems until I use the examples with ports. It falls into what seems
a loop where the progress reports give me an exorbitant 30,000% (its
still running
). Will it stop eventually?
Does anybody have worked with the ports option and bumped into this
abnormal behaviour?
