Hi Rob,

if you're one of the adventurous kind you may have a look into my 2002 
workshop contribution. I've prepared some complex  .cal -files for 
mathematical color and/or surface-normal -pattern generation. I admit 
that this all is a bit awkward, as there are a lot of cryptic 
parameters. On the other hand, this complexity allows the realistic 
modelling of a lot of common building materials (including, a.o., rough 
wall textures)
