the reason why I have to recompile rtrace lies in a document enclosed with the source code called: "rtrace changes - rtace version 1.7" this document explains about this 'custom version' of rtrace, optimized for daylighting coefficients calculations.... so my trouble is to get this custom rtrace working...... thanks again pillo
