[Radiance-general] su2rad export problem

Picking this thread back up on the mailing list to present the solution:

First of all: Please check https://github.com/tbleicher/su2rad/releases for
updates to the su2rad exporter. The current release is 2014.0.0.

The problem is not with su2rad but with DAYSIM and its limited
understanding of the Radiance scene file format. The errors messages

“Cannot find files:

…\radiance\medium

…\radiance\ambfiles\untitled1.amb

…\1)”

show that DAYSIM interprets instructions for 'rad' like AMBFILE etc as
scene files. Some documentation on how to import Radiance files
successfully would be useful.

The way how I managed to do it in the end is this:

   - Open Daysim and create or open a project
   - Use the geometry import option to import **.mat, *.rad, *.sky* files
   - Select the *'materials.rad'* file from the su2rad export folder and
click the *'Add'* button. (The file will be listed in the box).
   - Select the scene files from the* 'objects'* directory one by one and
click the *'Add'* button each time.
   - When all files are added to the list, continue with the import. Daysim
will now convert the materials and geometry.

This will only work if the scene has been exported 'by material' or 'by
layer'. A nested export of SU groups and components will not work. IIRC the
'daysim' option in su2rad was created to provide a 'flat' single file
export option that simplifies the import into Daysim but I have to check
the source again.
