I am pleased to announce that radiance binaries for Solaris
Sparc and Solaris Intel in pre-packaged form are available from
Blastwave:
    http://www.blastwave.org

You will find Solaris Intel binaries as well as Sparc. (Note
radsite.lbl.gov/radiance/dist/ only has Sparc.)

Rendering images is CPU intensive and every effort has been made
to optimise for increased speed. Sun's Forte compiler (Sun One
Studio 8) was used. The packages contain architecture optimised
versions of the heavily used executables which are invoked as
required automatically by isaexec. This gives a few percent
advantage over generic compiles but that can add up to several
hours when rendering images. The Sparc package is 35% faster
on an Ultra than the binaries offered from the radsite.lbl.gov
website, (http://radsite.lbl.gov/radiance/dist/radbin_sun.tar.gz).
