Dear colleagues,
My apologies for any cross postings.
The National Research Council Canada and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar
Energy Systems have released version 2.0 of the advanced daylighting
analysis tool DAYSIM. DAYSIM is a free add-on to LBNL's RADIANCE software.
DAYSIM predicts the annual daylight availability and electric lighting use
in a building. The software can be downloaded from <http://www.daysim.com/>
www.daysim.com. The following new features have been added since version
1.3:
* now runs under Windows 2000 and Linux/Unix operating systems
* features the manual lighting and blind control model LIGHTSWITCH,
that allows to predict the annual electric lighting use for various lighting
control strategies
* EnergyPlus weather data can be directly imported into RADIANCE
* based on RADIANCE 3.5
* new JAVA graphical user interface with an extensive help file system
* tutorial features a step-by-step instruction how to import AutoCAD
files into DAYSIM
Your comments/suggestions are appreciated. Greetings from Ottawa,
Christoph Reinhart
PS: Thanks a lot to the following individuals for taking the time to
beta-test DAYSIM 2.0.
* Anca Galasiu, NRC, Canada
* Philip Greenup, ARUP, Australia
* Milan Janak, Slovak Technical University, Slovakia
* Laurens Zonneveldt, TNO, The Netherlands
