I have to correct myself here - my apt-file lists some files more than
once...
0 bzed at hal:~$  apt-file search /usr/bin | sort -u | wc -l
20315

Still an impressive number.

Also while looking at the list, most packages which come with a lot of
programs use prefixes for their tools, bioperl uses bp_ for example (no,
I'm not suggesting to rename all radiance programs).
